We have covered many serious drunk driving car accidents in previous posts. Many of these accidents involve celebrities such as Ryan Dunn, the MTV personality who was killed in a fiery DUI crash this summer. The most recent celebrity to be arrested for drunk driving is Rima Fakih, last year's reigning Miss USA. The 26-year-old Lebanon-born beauty queen was the first Arab-American to win the title and was a role model for girls in Baton Rouge and across the country. Unfortunately she is also now among the many celebrities who set a bad example for local young drivers by deciding to drive drunk.

The Associated Press was able to obtain Fakih's arrest record which indicates that she was caught speeding last weekend. The police officer says that the beauty queen was driving a black 2011 Jaguar and changing lanes without signaling. The officer pulled Fakih over and noticed that she appeared disoriented and that she was slurring her words. These are telltale signs of intoxication so the officer asked Fakih whether she had been drinking. Fakih denied drinking at all but then blew a 0.19 and a 0.20 percent blood alcohol level on a breath test. An open bottle of champagne was also found underneath her seat, which she denied being aware of.

The officer cuffed Fakih and then took her to a police station cell "until she was sober for her safety and the safety of others."

The beauty queen was charged with careless driving, drunk driving, and having an open alcoholic container in the car.
